While your car is consistently full of parts that help it run efficiently, having some extra things for your car in your trunk or cargo area is a smart idea. Here are some of the spare parts that we recommend keeping on hand that hopefully you won’t have to use but will appreciate it if you do.
If you don’t have a spare tire, drop what you’re doing and get one. THIS CAN CHANGE EVERYTHING! A spare tire is less expensive and time consuming than towing to a local establishment. We all know how rough some of the roads in Wisconsin are, so it is a matter of time before you may need the spare tire. A spare tire, even if it’s just one of those little temporary donuts, will give you peace of mind and can help you out of a jam if you pop a tire. Most cars come with donut spare tires, but it’s best to check if your car has one. If it does, it usually comes with simplistic tools to change one as well. If your car doesn’t come with one, it won’t come with the tools to change one either.
You will also need to have extra windshield wiper fluid in your car because this can get used up very quickly. You’ll appreciate it when you run out and dirt, mud, bugs, or even frost have caked your windshield. Spare antifreeze can also help out when you need it most.
The bulbs in your headlights and taillights will burn out eventually, and if you have extras on hand, you’ll be able to replace them fast and efficiently. Some of your interior electrical components, like the dome light, require fuses, and they also burn out over time. Don’t want to mess with it? We don’t blame you. We can always do it here for you at the dealership during routine oil changes and car maintenance. Just let your service writer know!
You should also think about having other things in your car to help you deal with an unexpected situation. Jumper cables, road flares, and even just a bottle of water can all come in very handy as well not only for you, but other people on the road as well. First aid kits can come in handy as well as extra blankets, towels, and even a change of clothes.
Whether you need a spare tire, bulbs, fuses, or anything else, you can get it through the parts department at Schmit Bros. Want to do it all at once? Let your service writer know at your next appointment and we can help you with any and all of your car maintenance needs!
