1. Ford is the second largest family-owned company in the world. Henry Ford’s great grandson, William Clay Ford, Jr. is the current company’s CEO. 

 

2. The very first Ford sold was to Dr. Pfennig in 1903 for $850.  

 

3. The Model A had a 2-cylinder engine, and could reach a max speed of 30 mph. 

 

4. Ford’s current CEO owns the first Ford vehicle ever sold in 1903. 

 

5. Thomas Edison and Henry Ford were lifelong friends.  

 

6. Ford’s signature logo wasn’t on their vehicles until 4 years after the company had been in production. 

 

7. In 1914, Ford offered its employees double the current market average which then created Henry Ford’s $5-a-day. This salary, along with a shorter working day, minimized employee turnover. In turn, it helped grow the middle class and the fair wages movement.  

 

8. Henry Ford was quoted saying he wanted to help his workers to make a life, not just a living. 

 

9. The Ford Mustang was transported in 4 separate pieces to the observation deck of the Empire State Building in1965. They used resident elevators. It was then reassembled and photographed by helicopter. It was eventually taken apart and removed from the building 5 months later. 

 

10. The only car that Jim Morrison of the Doors ever owned was a 1967 Shelby GT 500.
