Anyone who has shopped for a Ford SUV knows that there are 4 major Ford SUVs: the Ford Explorer, Ford Expedition, Ford Edge, and the Ford Escape. The Ford Explorer is one of the oldest SUV brands with an introduction in 1991 and no break in between. Back in the 90’s, it was not hard to spot a Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition, and the framework completely gives away the type of model you are dealing with. The Ford Explorer is an SUV made with a truck design in mind; after all, it is modeled after the framework of a Ford Ranger. In 2020, the Ford Explorer was named the best-selling SUV of all time.

Something new with the Ford Explorer is the Ford Explorer ST as well as a Ford Explorer hybrid model. What does all of that mean? A rear-wheel drive version of the Ford Explorer ST became available, as did a hybrid version of the range-topping Ford Explorer Platinum. The Ford Explorer XLT now has a new appearance package with aluminum-alloy wheels and new seating surfaces. Added mid-year 2021, the Ford Explorer Timberline trim is based on the mid-level Ford Explorer XLT, and this adds heathered cloth and ActiveX trimmed seating, all-terrain tires, and an exterior/interior stylish detail

A new Ford Explorer ST Line trim, which is also based on the mid-level Ford Explorer XLT, adds exterior and interior elements from the performance ST, but does not include the 3.0L EcoBoost twin turbocharged V6 engine. Instead, it is powered by the base 2.3L EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine. The Ford Explorer ST Line offers an optional Bang and Olufsen premium surround sound audio system with an external amplifier, which was previously only offered on Limited trims and above.

Many other car makes and models, such as the Mercury Mountaineer and the Lincoln Aviator have tried matching the success of the Ford Explorer, but it still remains at the top of its class.
